MIKE HAYS

CD: IT’S OVER AGAIN
PRODUCED BY: MICKEY DEAN

Pure country and a joy to listen to, Mike Hays’ first album was well worth the wait, and according to this artists’ bio, he’s waited a very long time indeed. But he did it right, the FIRST time out!

Mike Hays, the DJ (Twangcast.com), has finally become Mike Hays, the recording artist! Oh, he’s been singing for a long time now—appearing "anywhere and everywhere someone would let him strap on a guitar…" and step up to the microphone—opening shows for such legends as Ricky Van Shelton, Bill Monroe, Emilou Harris and others. But he's’paid his dues now, and is ready to entertain the world!

After listening to this CD, several times and still goin’, I can honestly say that I’ve become an instant fan! Now, for me, that’s sayin’ something! I listen to an awful lot of these new Indies every week, and there are only a rare FEW that truly make me want to hit "replay" so often. True, there’s a lot of talent out there… rising new artists just beggin’ to be heard by the masses, and I’m always honored to have the chance to be one of the first to hear their recordings. But when it gets right down to it, I know (and THEY know) that there are only a
handful that will "make it big". And, honestly, the question has to be asked—"do they really WANT to ‘make it big’"? I mean, considering all the phoniness and almost ALWAYS the compromise that goes along with that status, keeping your head on straight and your heart in your music, is NOT easy (often, not very pleasant, either). But that said, realistically who DOESN’T WANT TO MAKE IT BIG? Isn’t that the goal, after all? Well, maybe yes, maybe no. The fact remains—only a few are gonna get "discovered" (as they say).

I think, after you hear Mike Hays’ "Its Over Again" CD, you’ll agree that this is one of those rare talents that only needs the desire (and of course, the LUCK), to find himself up there on the big stage of the stars.

This guy brings into the recording studio, so much talent, and performs with a style that makes it sound sooooo easy, it’s hard to decide whether to sit back with your feet up and eyes closed, or grab a partner and head for the dance floor! Hey, I guess BOTH are possible—dance ‘til you can’t catch your breath, then sit down, sip a cold drink, and listen to Mike sing one of his smooth ballads.

Mike has added some very talented guest-artists to help him out with his debut album, too. Singin’ duets with Heather Miles ("Tonight") from Rounder Records, and Elena Skye ("Jackson"), North Hollow Records, really makes this CD perfect! He couldn’t have made any better choices. He also lent his writing talent to one of the songs on this album ("Longlegs & Longnecks"), as well as recording a song ("Madison Moonshine"), written by a local songwriter, JD Dulin—it’s a great song, by the way! Choosing a favorite cut on this album is a difficult task, but I really love the title cut, "It’s Over Again", written by Dale
Watson. Too bad you have to wait till the very last song on the album to hear it! On the other hand, it’s real simple to hit "replay", over and over and over and……

Good luck with your new recording career, Mike. If you do as good a job on the next one (remember, it’s hard to top a winner!), as you have with THIS one, you’ll have TWO CD’s that any DJ worth his salt, would gladly play! But for now, this one’s plenty to be proud of! Good production, good tunes, good company, and one VERY TALENTED COUNTRY recording artist!

Be sure to visit Mike at his website, http://www.mikehays.com or write to him mike@mikehays.com and pick up this terrific CD. Personally, I think it’s very cool country—but remember—it’s only…
