This guy is amazing! I’ve been writing for a long time, and yet, can’t quite find the right words to describe this artists’ talent. So let’s go song by song. I’m going to show you how I wrote this review, right from the first moment I heard it….no editing here. Bear with me, now…

I’m blown away by Michael’s ability to sing in so many styles, with absolute honesty! This is a rare quality, these days. Usually, and I think you’ll agree, most performers have one style (often, not even their own), and they pretty much, stick to it. I’m not saying that’s bad. But when they are capable of singing in so many different ways, and actually DO it, on one CD, it’s a gift.

Here are just a few of his songs off this CD, and how I feel about them….I think you’ll feel the same!

"Let’s Pretend" Colonel Buster Doss

WOW! This is so retro! A great swing sound, like right out of the 40’s era of big band music. I had to ask myself, "where has this guy been hiding?".. Beautiful instrumentals, too.

"Where Has It Gone", Rooster Quantrell

An amazing ability to turn from smooth swing, to traditional country!! Sounds like a totally different person! What’s going on here?

"Something In the Genes", Buddy Hart

Rock and roll? 50’s? Geeeeesh! So far, the most "multi-personality" CD, I’ve heard, in a long time. Do I hear Jerry Lee playin the piano, on this one? No, but it sure sounds like him, and it doesn’t stop here!

"Sentimental Fool"

Back to the 40’s, only this time, with a country twist! I LOVE this guy!

"Do I Ever Cross Your Mind"

Another great cut…what can I say??!!

"Lucky I Found You"

Not crazy about the arrangement here…confusing rhythm. But, hey, they can’t ALL be equally good….can they?? And the lyrics are great.

"How Far Is Heaven", Tullman Franks/Jimmy Davis

Good song…good, sad story…but….he’s reaching for the high notes, on this one. Stick to your own range, Michael! Your own range is GREAT! Besides, it always hurts MY throat, to hear a singer reaching so hard!

…Well, it just goes on and on…the entire CD is beautiful…I hope you’ll look this one up, and buy it for yourself. Don’t let ME influence you…{smile} wellllll, maybe just a little, ok? And I hope to hear more from Michael, very soon. I know this, if I ever get the chance to see a performance, I’ll be there !!
