| Ho-hum Another day, another new CD. (just kiddin', folks NO day is ho-hum around here, and certainly, no music is, either!) BUT, this one, I really enjoyed listening to! And not just the first time I heard it, but the second and third and EACH time! LOLENE has a debut album out, called Lonely Dealin's. Now although this album is a bit different, in that it doesn't exactly have a "title" | |||||||

track, it's still one that will get your toes tappin'. I especially liked the first track on this CD, called "Slow Burn" (Cheeks/Smith) followed closely by "Deal's Gone Down" (Cheeks), and "I Know Where You're Comin' From" (Beard/Varble). Plus, every song on this album is a great dance tune, and who doesn't like that!? Now, folks when I listen to an album, I listen not only to the artist..but also to the music, itself the instrumentation. On "Lonely Dealin's", the band here is EXCEPTIONAL! I loved every minute of their music, and it made me stop and think about some I've heard in the past. It's true that many artists can't really afford to hire a band. And some just prefer to 'do it the easy way'. They use keyboards, pretending to be a variety of instruments. It's ALMOST always a dead giveaway. Every now and then, one slips by me, one that's very good. BUT, not often. And when a band steps up to the mic, and play their hearts out, that NEVER gets by me. NEVER! I'd like to take a minute here, to tell you who makes up this band for Lolene's great album. First, we have the guitarist and LEADER of the band, Danny Parks. Great job, Danny! Following his lead there's Mike Blaustone, Tommy Wells, and Randy Hardison, on drums. Love those drums, guys! Now, add to that, the talented fingers of Buddy Hyatt and Dennis Wage, on piano and the great sounds of Mike Johnson, Scotty Sanders, and Mike Cass, on Steel Then, slip in the all-important talents of Larry Franklin on the Fiddle, and last but not least, the pure country sounds of Mike Chapman and Dave Hungate on Bass. NOW, folks, we have ourselves one GREAT band! They all deserve to take a bow, and then some! |

Ooops, I neglected to mention another super addition
to this group, Susan Marshall, who sings backup for Lolene, and does
an outstanding job, too! Now, with a strong
voice like Lolene's, a great band to back her up, and a wonderful backup
singer like Susan
you can't go wrong with this very "pure country" album.
