A little girl with a knock-out voice, Jourdan Irene was a pleasant surprise for me. I never expect too much from such a young artist, but this little gal has quite an appeal! She is able to carry off some of the top hits from some of the top stars, with a style her own, and pure country. No doubt, she has the stage presence to go with the sound, and I predict we'll be hearing more from little Jourdan. This CD is her DEBUT album, and she's very much grateful to both her parents for allowing her to " live my dream". She has recorded several original songs on this album, as well as some long-standing hits by the likes of Loretta Lynn and Tanya Tucker. And she backs up her statement that Loretta is "her favorite singer", with track #10, "When I Grow Up I Wanna Be Like Loretta" (George Day/Marty Myrthell), which she sings so well. A couple of my favorites on the CD, of course, happen to be your favorites too "Don't Come Home A'Drinkin" (Lynn/Wills) and of course, "Coal Miners Daughter" (Loretta Lynn). And I was really impressed with the way she nailed that last song! If that's an example of what we can expect from Jourdan in the future, then I think we all have a lot to look forward to! But what I found most gratifying was Jourdan's performances of such originals as "Sing Me A Lullaby" (Myrthell/Day) and "Put A Little Sunshine In Your Heart" (George Day). Here she proves that she has the talent to show off her own style, and keep us tappin' our toes. This album's producer (Arvel Bird) also did a super job, and Jourdan was joined in the studio by some pretty impressive musicians, and a backup singer (Kathy Jarrell), who added that 'cherry on the top' to just make this whole project such a delight to listen to. I hope y'all will run on over to her website, http://www.jourdanirene.com to check out this very young (only 8 years old!) country singer, and order her very first album! I don't think you'll regret it but of course, this is only "an independent view" by:
