"WHERE I USED TO BE"

ARTIST:
DIANA KELLEY

ALBUM TITLE:
WHERE I USED TO BE
RECORD LABEL:
GREEN BACK RECORDS
Pure country. Sometimes not a description that an artist wants to hear about him/herself. These days, it could be a curse, instead of a compliment. It could stop you cold, if you want to be played on mainstream radio. But if you're true to yourself, and do what you love…and if its country music you love, then this description of your music is just exactly what you want to hear! And so it is, with Diana Kelley. Pure country. Very pure…very country….and VERY good!

After a bit of an absence from music for awhile, I decided to get back down to business, and put on a new CD today. And who better to listen to, and review, than a lady with a voice that brings me right back to where we left off. Diana Kelley has a voice that pulls me back to country again, and tends to make me forget (at least for awhile) about the events of the past few weeks. For that, I must say…Thanks, Diana!

Diana's album, "Where I Used To Be", is one you're sure to like. I listened to it when it first arrived in my mailbox, as I usually do. And I really did want to start writing, immediately! But, because I had so many in front of it, I put it away for the time being. Then, BAM, we got hit with things that no one ever expected. And suddenly, everything changed. But…never the music. And even though I had trouble "hearing" it, I know the artists out there, including Diana, never stopped singing. It's their gift to us. And thank God for it. Diana is especially comforting to listen to, folks. Her voice is sweet and clearly unique. Each song is well written and sung with a passion that tells me she understands the words.

The title song "Where I Used To Be" (Mark E. Beard, Kerry Welling, Roy G. Ownbey, Tony Bonanno) is a great one! One of my favorites, actually. But it's hard to choose a favorite on this album. They're all so well done. And Diana has a way of bringing the lyrics to us in a country style that pulls in a little blues sound. And if you know me, you know I love blues. I like the way it makes you FEEL the story you're listening to. Diana knows how to tell a story, too. I can't say she "reminds" me of anyone in particular. She has her own distinct style. And that's good. These days, there are just too many copycat artists out there. Diana is NOT one of them. "Makin' Love To You" (Alexandria Sheraton, Roy Ownbey), is another favorite on this album. Diana seems to understand this one especially well. But that doesn't mean she's "lived it". It simply means she truly gets inside a song, and is able to take us with her. That's a talent that can't be overlooked.

If you're a true, blue, country music fan, I hope you'll make the effort to find this album. As with so many indies, sometimes these albums are elusive, and hard to find. But, I've found that you can visit http://www.radiocountry.org and listen to two of her songs there. Then you can contact Diana at her fanclub address: Diana Kelley FanClub

It's worth the effort. Diana has a real talent that's already starting to move up the charts in a lot of markets around the world. I hope you all will boost her sales, and get a lot of great music in the deal!! Another super album for your collection of REAL country indies!

Till next time, folks, stay safe, stay alert, keep the radios playin'…and this has been…
