Crazed Cowboys "DAMN, IT FEELS GOOD TO BE A COWBOY"
There are a lot of songs on this CD, 23, to be exact, and many of them are great old songs that we've all heard before. But the Cowboys put a whole new take on them. For instance, who can sing a tune from ".Over the Rainbow" without sounding schmaltzy? The Cowboys, that's who! Yep, here, singing "If I Only Had A Brain", they make me glad I got a chance to listen to this old tune again, with a bit of a different sound, this time. And a good one, I might add. There was a nice tribute to Elton John with "Don't Let The Sun Go Down On Me', too. Yep, I heard several little bits and pieces on this CD, that led me to believe the Cowboys are fans of many of the great entertainers of both present and past. They move quickly from one tune to the next,
leaving no time to take a breath between tunes. I hope you're ready to dance!
'Cause you'll want to! And, if you're not in shape, you're gonna be out of
breath before you sit back down. I have some favorites on this CD, but I kinda
hate to pick them out for ya, 'cause I don't want to influence you. But I
do have to mention at least ONE that both surprised me, and made me smile.a
real big Yankee smile! What song was that, you ask? Well, its "These
Boots Were Made For Walkin'", of course! Can you honestly say that when
you hear this song, you don't just HAVE to tap your feet? They almost went TOO far, though, when they put that poor old "Dog In The Bathtub". I had to laugh, but I wanted to rescue that poor dog! I mean, come on guys.MUST you torture that poor innocent creature? I know he needs his bath, and I imagine you know what you're doin', but he's hollerin' so loud, that someone's gonna be callin' out the ASPCA!!! Better be careful, boys. Next, we get a wonderful 'swing' tune. I love this stuff. And who doesn't? If they don't get everyone up on the dance floor with this one, I'd be surprised. Those Cowboys have a wonderful way with the guitar. And they have a great sense of knowing how to get their audience up on their feet. I 've heard tell that when they play a gig, there are lots of empty seats during their performance. Empty seats, only because everyone is dancin'! Is it true, George? George Lee, Jr. & The Crazed Cowboys, are one great band, and with the addition of the newest member, Bo "Fiddly" Chaloupek, and the others, Paul "Lefty Z" Zahn, Stuart "Crawdad" Heck, and George Lee, Jr., himself, I think their unique sound is only going to get more and more popular with the country listeners. Yep, they're an outlaw group, for sure, but they are gonna grow on ya. I've loved them since my first listen, and since I've come to know them better, I respect them AND their music even more. Chris Web (Cowboy Maxx), and Scott Freeman also contributed their instrumental expertise to this CD. And helping with production, Pat "Pecos" Carmichael engineered and mixed the music for this album. |
