| I
cannot stress enough, what a talented artist this man is. And if I had known
this CD was in my stack of albums waiting to be reviewed, I would have written
this several months ago!! Unfortunately, it somehow got misplaced, and was presented
to me by an embarrassed asst. just the other day! Now, it's easy around here,
for things to get "lost in the shuffle"
this place is floor
to ceiling with music projects. But when something THIS good gets set aside,
it's TRULY a shame. So, please, let me make up for the lost time.
Let me begin by saying (and without demeaning anyone, here), that I would swear I was listening to a " major star", being produced by a "major producer", and released by a major record label! But nope. An independent artist, with an independent label. Chris Gill has one of the purest voices I've ever heard. EVER! Each word is filled with emotion and tells me he's been there experienced it all. So, it should be no surprise that he's written all the songs on this album. Not only written them, but had a hand in every phase of the production, from the arrangements right down to the graphics on the CD cover. Now how can you top that? Well, you can then add to equation, Alan Macumber, a VERY talented producer! Oh, and of course, it goes without saying that every person involved in this project, both in front of and behind the scenes, had to be strongly committed to what they were doing. It shows! It comes through loud and clear. And it's BEAUTIFUL! Every song is excellent. There is no 'kinda good' or 'could be better' song here. Each one is better than the one before it, and then you play it all again! Boys and girls, this album should be shakin' up those "suits" in Nashville and New York. And we should be hearing these songs on the radio! When I hear an album like this one, it makes my job so much more enjoyable yet, at the same time, so much more frustrating. I would like nothing more than to go into a major radio station and bounce a few of these CD's off their tiny little heads .HARD! I mean, damn, how the heck do we get their attention, anyway? Apparently talent isn't the answer. Not vocal talent, not songwriting talent, not production quality. But, hey, we all know this. It's old news. So, I'll just keep doin' my best to let you all know about some of the really great music available. And THIS one, ladies and gentlemen, IS great music .waiting to be heard. By EVERYONE. I'm thrilled to have received this beautiful album. And I'm sorry to have heard it so late into its release. I will be playing this one over and over. Chris has a wonderful band backing him up, too, and he's even included strings! The instrumentals are gorgeous. And the background vocals are incredible. There is just NOTHING bad here, folks! I think, if I had to name a favorite, it would have to be "A Miracle". Or, maybe it would be "Read My Eyes" or .on second thought, maybe it would be "Lonely Nights at Home" .."Shake It" is a cool one, too. Heck, I can't do it. YOU decide. Run over to his website, http://www.chrisgill.ca and check it out. If you don't buy this one, you'll lose out on something big, folks. REALLY big. This one will be on the top of my collection now. I bet it'll top yours too .but then, that's only my opinion and late, at that yep, it's just
